Rules & Regulations

  • Students are not permitted to take part in any amateur or professional performing work without the prior consent of the Principal – this includes any auditions.
  • You must attend all classes that are timetabled, unless prior permission is obtained from the relevant member of staff
  • The college day is timetabled from 9am – 5pm five days a week, although during rehearsal times this can vary.
  • No appointments can be made during the normal working day that would take you out of your normal classes.
  • If you are prevented from taking part in a class due to an injury a doctors certificate may be required as proof.
  • Students leaving before the expiration of the full period of training, one term's notice must be given in writing or ONE term's fees in lieu of notice.
  • No fees are returnable in the case of any student leaving after the beginning of term for illness or any other reason whatsoever.
  • HTS does NOT hold itself responsible for any accident, injury or death sustained to students on the college premises or at outside premises attended during training.
  • HTS does NOT accept responsibility for loss of monies, clothing, personal effects or properties of any kind from the premises above referred to.
  • Students are advised to arrange a personal insurance policy against injury.
  • Students have no right to demand a part in any performance and must perform as cast.
  • All students are required to be making satisfactory progress on the course to enable them to proceed onto the next term.
  • No student is guaranteed the Showcase at the end of the course. This is completely dependent on your progress up to that point. However you will be given fair notice should a problem arise.
  • All students are required to keep themselves in optimum health to complete the course. If staff feel that the student is not physically up to the rigours of the course, that student can be asked to leave, or their place suspended until such time as the Principal deemed fit.
  • If any infringement of the rules and regulations take place the Principal has the right to suspend or dismiss the student from HTS with immediate effect. Such students shall not be entitled to claim the refund of any fees.
  • HTS believes in free speech and as such is likely to use plays that express a wide range of views. Whilst we will attempt to accommodate students' beliefs, the training might require you to undertake a role that involves you personating persons of either gender/race/sexuality. Accepting your place at HTS will be deemed as agreement to this fact.
  • We believe that all students regardless of their gender/race/sexuality have an equal right to their beliefs. At HTS we will dismiss someone who is found guilty of victimization for any of these core values.
  • HTS will try to respect religious holidays that students wish to take, however the demands of the profession are such that we cannot guarantee this time as a given.
