David Salter – guest director

Theatre: Direction: The Comedy of Errors (Cambridge Shakespeare Festival); Life of Galileo (Studio Theatre, Washington DC, winner of the Helen Hayes Award for Best Lead Actor); Playing Sinatra (New End Theatre) Escaping the Darkness (Young Vic Schools Festival) Life of Galileo (BAC Main House); Hansel and Gretel (Old Bull Arts Centre); Measure for Measure (Cockpit Theatre); Ghetto (National tour & Pleasance, Edinburgh – winner, Guardian International Student Drama Award), Time and The Conways and Turnaround (Warwick Arts Centre) . David was associate director on a number of productions at the Almeida Theatre, where he also directed staged readings of Howard Barker's Brutopia starring Ian McDiarmid and readings of several opera liberettos for Genesis Opera. He has also directed readings of Mishima's Noh Plays in Tokyo , Howard Barker's Ecstatic Bible in London and Bernard Kops' new play, Returning We Hear The Larks with Warren Mitchell. David has directed regularly at a number of drama schools including RADA and Mountview and was invited to Washington DC to lead a master class in Shakespeare at the Academy for Classical Acting. Most recently, David was assistant director to Peter Stein on Blackbird. He is developing a new production based on the works of the American writer O Henry.
